Sharing Roger Dean

The Palm Beach Cardinals are one of two minor league baseball teams to call Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium home, sharing the facility with the Jupiter Hammerheads. They also welcome their MLB affiliates, the St. Louis Cardinals, during spring training.

The facility itself is a beautiful one, with well-manicured landscaping, tons of free parking, and an entire shopping and dining district, complete with quality hotels, literally across the street.

Food & Beverage 2

The food options at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium during Cardinals games are quite limited, as there is usually just one beer and beverage cart and one food cart open downstairs by the main entrance. Hot dogs, bratwurst, and Italian sausages run $6.25, while super nachos will cost you $6.75, and this is the highest priced food item in the stadium. A regular hot dog is an affordable $3.25, with candy, chips, peanuts, and Cracker Jack ranging from $2 to $4.25. Drink options include soda and water at $3 and $3.75 respectively, with beer ranging from $5 to $7.25.

Atmosphere 4

Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium itself is beautiful – the entrance and outer walkways are gorgeously manicured with stunning trees, bushes, and flowers, both to keep you shaded as well as to add some color.

Once inside, the stadium’s stucco look gives you that Florida feel. The interior of this almost 6,900-seat stadium usually gives you plenty of space to spread out, as fans generally range in the 1,000 to 1,500 range for attendance.

In 2017, MiLB began using a pitcher’s clock to reduce the down time between pitches and help speed up the game. The countdown clock is placed well within view from most every angle in the stadium for fans to see. In addition, the scoreboard here at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium is a video scoreboard, giving you replays of big plays on the field.

Neighborhood 5

Perhaps the best thing about Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium is its location. Across the street is a beautiful Courtyard by Marriott hotel, and next to that is the Abacoa neighborhood, complete with shopping and dining options in a downtown setting with apartments above. JJ Mugs Stadium Grill, Le Metro, and Copacabana Cuban Cuisine are just a few of the favorite restaurants among fans.

A block away from the ballpark is one of FAU’s satellite campuses, where you can find the Hibel Museum of Art. Down the street less than a quarter mile away are more hotels and places to eat, including Hurricane Grill and Wings and a Publix grocery store. For visitors to the area, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center and the Juno Beach Pier are the top spots to see.

Fans 3

The fans can run a bit thin at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium during Cardinals games, but that’s to be expected for Florida State League games in the summer. Being an MiLB game, you will find your mix of families and hardcore sports faithful who follow the players, stats, and happenings around the leagues much like the scouts do. Crowd sizes can grow whenever an MLB player is designated for a rehab assignment, but they generally tally somewhere between 1,000 and 1,500 fans per game.

Access 5

Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium is right off I-95, less than a block from exit 83. Directions are easy to follow thanks to the signs all over the place.

Once you get to the stadium, parking is plentiful in the parking garage right across the street next to the hotel – the best part is that parking is free for games. There is also street-side parking available in a few spots, as well as metered parking towards the downtown Abacoa area.

Return on Investment 4

Ticket prices to Palm Beach Cardinals games are inexpensive, costing just $9 for adults and $7 for kids and seniors; veterans and active duty military are free for all games with their military ID. Season tickets are available for just under $250, and this includes free playoff tickets. With concessions prices also low, you’re likely to not pay a lot out of pocket for professional baseball, meaning this is a great option for large groups and families alike who want a night out watching sports.

Extras 4

The team’s mascot, Robbie the Redbird, wanders the stadium during games, visiting with fans, interacting with the kids, and participating in t-shirt tosses. The Cardinals also have plenty of theme nights, including Star Wars night, throughout the year, and giveaways are also plentiful during games for all fans.

Finally, the main concourse and elevator lobbies offer you a view into the past, with framed newspaper articles of Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium’s history, as well as banners for the Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame, which hang in the main concourse.

Final Thoughts

Taking in a game at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium is a great option for families, large groups, and individual fans alike. If you want somewhere to get out and enjoy the beautiful Florida weather while watching some quality baseball, definitely consider taking in a Palm Beach Cardinals game. You can stay, shop, eat, and watch the game without having to walk more than a few hundred yards in any given direction.
