On May 1, on the heels of perhaps the most-watched IIHF Women’s World Championship ever, the Canadian Women’s Hockey League folded, raising hopes that there would finally be one league where all the sport’s best players competed. The next day, over 200 players, including most of the rosters of Team USA and Team Canada, announced that they would not play professional hockey in North America, forming the #ForTheGame movement.
